Monster Stickers Not Included: Chevrolet Offering “Black Out” Package for Silverado Work Truck

2015 Chevrolet Silverado WT Black Out package
In today’s full-size-pickup world, the humble base/work truck variants are rarely spoken of, overshadowed by $50,000-plus, leather-lined, over-chromed Platinums and Laramies. But they’re not totally forgotten—just look at Ram, which has been churning out interesting takes on the base-truck theme like the Express and Tradesman. Now Chevrolet has entered the game with a slick Black Out package for the Silverado 1500 Work Truck model.

It’s always nice when an option package’s name synchronizes perfectly with what that package actually comes with. In this case, the Black Out package brings black paint, black-painted 20-inch aluminum wheels, dark window tint, and black Chevy bow-tie badges front and rear. Predictably, this suitably elevates the Silverado’s style quotient beyond the regular Work Truck’s steel-wheels-and-plastic-bumpers look, and it costs just $1595. For some reason, Chevy limits the package’s availability to regular-cab and crew-cab models (no extended cab!) and doesn’t make the Silverado’s optional 5.3-liter V-8 standard.

On the flip side, that keeps the price of entry low, with the least-expensive regular-cab WT so equipped commanding just $28,895. Just do us a favor and add the V-8—it costs a reasonable $1095, which keeps the base price under $30,000, and any truck that looks like this should probably sound bad-ass, too.
